Park Jin Young Steps Down
“Park wants to dedicate his energy to his creative projects,” stated JYP Entertainment in a recent announcement regarding the company’s leadership changes. This marks a significant transition for the founder, who has been a pivotal figure in the K-pop industry.
As of March 10, 2026, Park Jin Young is stepping down from his position as an internal director of JYP Entertainment. He will not seek reappointment during the upcoming shareholders’ meeting scheduled for March 26. Despite this change, he plans to remain actively involved in the company’s creative direction.
Park Jin Young, known for hit songs such as “Don’t Leave Me,” “Honey,” and “Who’s Your Mama?”, debuted as a solo artist in 1994. His extensive experience in writing and producing K-pop hits for various artists under JYP Entertainment has solidified his reputation as a leading figure in the music industry.
In addition to his role at JYP, Park serves as co-chairman of South Korea’s Presidential Committee on Cultural Exchange, where he aims to strengthen the country’s cultural cooperation with other parts of the world. His contributions to globalizing K-pop have been recognized as invaluable by government officials.
“He isn’t leaving the company he built. Instead, he’s returning to his roots as a creator and mentor,” JYP Entertainment emphasized, highlighting Park’s commitment to his artistic endeavors.
Park’s decision comes on the heels of JYP Entertainment reporting record sales in mid-2025, alongside Stray Kids being named the top-grossing K-pop tour of that year. His recent collaboration, the digital single “Happy Hour” with Kwon Jin-ah, released in November 2025, showcases his ongoing dedication to music.
As he steps back from administrative duties, the focus will shift to his creative projects, which are anticipated to further influence the K-pop landscape. Details remain unconfirmed regarding how this transition will affect JYP Entertainment’s future direction.
