Gardner Minshew signs with the Arizona Cardinals
Gardner Minshew has signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals, valued at $8.25 million. Minshew will serve as the backup to Jacoby Brissett, adding depth to the Cardinals’ quarterback position.
Last season, Minshew played for the Kansas City Chiefs, where he started one game after Patrick Mahomes was injured. During his time with the Chiefs, he completed 46.2% of his throws for 37 yards and an interception in four games.
Minshew’s performance in 2023 with the Indianapolis Colts was noteworthy, as he earned a Pro Bowl honor. He threw for a career-high 3,305 yards and 15 touchdowns, finishing the season with a 7-6 record as a starter.
Over his seven seasons in the NFL, Minshew has accumulated impressive statistics, throwing for a total of 11,987 yards, 68 touchdowns, and 35 interceptions. He has appeared in 63 games, starting 47 of them across five teams.
Drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 178th pick in 2019, Minshew has consistently demonstrated his ability to step in as a starter when needed, having started at least one game every season since entering the league.
Observers are keen to see how Minshew will perform in his new role with the Cardinals and how he will support Brissett as the team prepares for the upcoming season. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific expectations for Minshew’s contributions in Arizona.
