Timothy Busfield, the actor known for his roles in ‘The West Wing’ and ‘Thirtysomething’, has been indicted on child sex abuse charges by a New Mexico jury. The indictment, which occurred on February 6, 2026, involves allegations of abusing twin boys on the set of ‘The Cleaning Lady’ when they were just seven and eight years old.
At least four women have come forward accusing Busfield of groping their breasts and genitals, as well as forcing himself on them, with incidents dating back to between 1993 and 2000. The women reported their experiences to the police after Busfield was arrested on January 13, 2026, on suspicion of child sex abuse.
Busfield faces four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child, with a trial date set for May 2027. His attorney, Larry Stein, has stated that the allegations from the women are unproven and irrelevant to the boys’ case, emphasizing, “I will not waste my time nor the public’s commenting on 30-year-old unproven allegations with adult women.”
One of the women alleged that Busfield threatened her career, saying she would never work in the film industry after she rejected his advances. Another woman claimed that Busfield and his wife encouraged her to use drugs with them, while yet another reported that he belittled her talent.
The accusations come as Busfield, now 68 years old, has denied all charges against him. The allegations from the women, some of which occurred over 30 years ago, have raised concerns about a pattern of behavior, with one unnamed woman stating, “I thought these are not isolated cases. And your time is not the one and only time it’s ever happened.”
The alleged abuse on the set of ‘The Cleaning Lady’ has drawn significant attention, particularly given the serious nature of the accusations. The boys involved reportedly earned a combined salary of $2 million over three seasons, highlighting the stakes involved in this case.
As the legal proceedings unfold, reactions from the public and industry peers remain mixed. One woman expressed gratitude for the support of those believing the children, stating, “Thank you for believing these children.”
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full extent of the allegations and the potential impact on Busfield’s career and the production of ‘The Cleaning Lady’.
