Jackie Fielder is currently hospitalized in San Francisco following an acute personal health crisis, leaving many in the community concerned for her wellbeing. Fielder, who represents District 9, which includes the Portola and Bernal Heights neighborhoods, has not attended City Hall or public meetings for about two weeks.
Fielder’s office has stated they are not at liberty to share details about her health situation, but they expressed gratitude for the support she has received. “Jackie Fielder is going through an acute personal health crisis right now and we are not at liberty to share details, but we appreciate the support people have given us and are proud of her for taking care of herself,” her office said.
Mayor Daniel Lurie has publicly expressed his wishes for Fielder’s speedy recovery, stating, “I am sending Supervisor Fielder my best wishes for a speedy recovery. She is a dedicated advocate for her community.” Fellow Supervisor Matt Dorsey also shared his sentiments, emphasizing the importance of Fielder’s wellbeing, saying, “What matters to me above all else is the wellbeing of a colleague, who happens also to be a good person and a dedicated public servant. Know that we are all pulling for you, (Jackie Fielder).”
Fielder, who was elected in 2024, has been a progressive voice on the Board of Supervisors, advocating for public banking, tenant protections, and opposing corporate interests. Amid her health crisis, she has reportedly informed multiple individuals of her intention to resign, although as of 4:30 p.m. Friday, the Board of Supervisors clerk had no documentation of her resignation.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact nature of Fielder’s health condition, and it remains unclear if she will officially resign or not. If she does choose to resign, Mayor Lurie would be responsible for appointing a replacement to fill her position on the Board of Supervisors.
