Heavy Snow Warning Issued for Eight States
A heavy snow warning has been issued for eight states, including Michigan, Washington, Wisconsin, Alaska, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and Oregon, as the National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts severe winter weather beginning Tuesday.
According to the NWS, these states are expected to experience heavy snow and strong winds, with total snowfall potentially reaching up to 4 feet in some areas. Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories have been issued for multiple regions within these states.
In Michigan, certain areas could see between 4 and 6 inches of snow, while northern regions may receive up to 9 inches. Washington is bracing for blizzard conditions, with snowfall totals expected to range from 2 to 4 feet.
Wisconsin’s northern counties are also under alert, with forecasts predicting up to 8 inches of snow by Wednesday. Meanwhile, Alaska could see up to 7 inches of snow in specific areas by Tuesday afternoon.
South Dakota’s northern Black Hills may receive between 1 and 4 inches of snow by Tuesday evening, and Montana’s southern Big Horn region is expected to get a similar amount by Wednesday morning.
The NWS warns that these conditions are likely to create blowing snow, which could reduce visibility to less than half a mile at times, posing significant hazards for travel and outdoor activities.
As the storm approaches, local authorities are advising residents to prepare for severe weather and to stay updated on changing conditions. Emergency services are on alert to respond to any incidents that may arise due to the heavy snowfall.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full extent of the impacts, but residents in the affected states are urged to take necessary precautions and monitor local weather reports for the latest updates.
