Darron Lee Charged with First-Degree Murder
Darron Lee, a former NFL linebacker, has been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of Gabriella Carvalho Perpétuo. The incident occurred in Hamilton County, Tennessee, where Perpétuo was found dead in a home on March 10, 2026.
According to prosecutors, Lee allegedly stabbed Perpétuo to death last month. Disturbingly, it has been reported that Lee consulted ChatGPT for advice on how to handle the situation before he called the police, approximately 12 hours after the incident.
District Attorney Coty Wamp stated, “Mr. Lee was in a home with a female (who) was, for lack of a better term, beaten to death.” Blood was found throughout the residence, and Perpétuo had sustained multiple types of trauma, including stab wounds and bruises.
Lee, 31, was a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, selected 20th overall by the New York Jets. He played three seasons with the Jets before spending time with the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.
After the judge’s order, Lee was held without bond, and his case has been bound over to a grand jury. He is currently eligible for the death penalty, although it remains unclear whether prosecutors will pursue that option.
In a chilling message to a friend, Lee expressed confusion about the situation, saying, “Don’t know what to do right now, fiancée did her crazy thing again and now she’s messed up, I wake up and she has two swollen eyes (I didn’t do anything, self inflicted) she stabbed herself, slit her eye? Idk but she isn’t waking up or responding, what do I do?”
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full circumstances surrounding the incident and the potential implications of AI in this case. The use of technology in criminal activities continues to raise ethical and legal questions.
As the investigation unfolds, the community and the sports world are reacting to the shocking news surrounding Lee, who had a promising career in the NFL before this tragic turn of events.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the case progresses, and the public awaits more information on the legal proceedings against Lee.
