Cole Strange Signs with Chargers
Cole Strange has agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Chargers on a two-year contract worth $13 million. This signing comes as the Chargers are overhauling their interior offensive line after losing both starting guards.
Strange, a first-round pick by the New England Patriots in 2022, played 14 games last season for the Miami Dolphins, all as a starter. In his career, he has participated in 44 games with 43 starts, primarily at left guard, but also has experience at right guard and center.
Strange’s journey has been notable; he was a five-year starter at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he became the highest-drafted player in the history of his college program. His performance in college laid the groundwork for his professional career.
After suffering a torn patellar tendon in late 2023, Strange was released by the Patriots before the start of his third season. His move to the Chargers reunites him with coach Mike McDaniel, who previously coached him in Miami.
Adam Schefter reported, “Cole Strange has agreed to terms with the Chargers.” This signing is seen as a strategic move, with observers noting that Strange likely arrives with the promise of being in the mix for a starting guard job.
McDaniel obviously identified Strange as a needed piece while he looks to install his new blocking schemes. The Chargers have also signed center Tyler Biadasz to a three-year, $30 million deal, indicating a clear intent to strengthen their offensive line.
As the Chargers prepare for the upcoming season, the addition of Strange is expected to play a crucial role in their offensive strategy. Details remain unconfirmed regarding how quickly Strange will adapt to the new system and compete for a starting position.
